About us

Our History

Performance Fasteners were formed in January 2010 by two former directors of an established manufacturer, with over 20 years of service each at that company, manufacturing socket screws and bespoke turned parts. Quickly achieving steady growth patterns, PFL acquired Hydro Stainless Ltd in 2012 and inherited machinery and staff to become a leading manufacturer very quickly. Ten years on, the growth patterns have maintained and that machinery has been updated and replaced with fully automated machines to streamline the company to meet it’s full potential.

Performance Fasteners hold within the company a unique knowledge base, skill-set and technical capability to meet the specialist alloy and tooling needs of the world’s most demanding engineering industries, from Oil & Gas to Aerospace and Automotive.

From holding the right start materials, we manage the entire supply chain including all manufacturing processes and technologies.

This enables us to produce end to end precision-engineered products that meet the needs of some of the most demanding customers on the planet, from oil & gas to the aerospace and automotive industries.

Over several decades, our commercial reach and specialist knowledge base has grown to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers. It is this agility that has kept Performance Fasteners unique and at the leading edge of precision-engineered critical supply componentry.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer full certification for parts?

Yes, we offer material certification to BS EN 10204 3.1 and Laboratory Inspection on finished parts if required to specifications such as ASTM F738M 10.2 / 13.1 / 13.2, etc

What inspection procedures do you operate?

Inspection for us is the key to success. Nobody wants parts rejected and that is core to our business.

Inspection starts internally with our accredited ISO 9001:2015 procedures which would include Contract Review to make sure quotations meet that offered to the order. Materials are inspected on receipt and certification from the Mill is checked before manufacturing to ensure correct material is used. PMI Certification is provided upon request at time of quotation. All items are segregated and labelled during manufacture.

First off inspection, in process inspections and final inspections are carried out before releasing for packing.

Upon request, we can the test on-site for a hardness reading if required or send to the laboratory for Mechanical / Chemical clarification to raw material on finished goods.

Can you part mark the manufactured items?

Yes, part marking is also done in-house by means of an automated etching machine.

We would ask you to clarify what needs etching and make sure the part itself is big enough to etch in the first instance.

If no etching is requested, it is normal for us to etch our name (PFL), the grade of material and an M if metric unless otherwise requested.
