About us
Our History
Performance Fasteners was formed in January 2010. By 2011 they had achieved accreditation to the ISO 9001 Management System, which was known at the time as BS 5750.
In 2012 PFL quickly achieved a steady growth pattern by acquiring Hydro Stainless Ltd, inheriting machinery and staff to become a leading manufacturer offering small parts, in small quantities.
Those growth patterns have been maintained, machinery updated and replaced with fully automated versions, enabling us to achieve our desired efficiencies and full potential.
Our current machining facilities now allows us to do both small and large batch runs from M1 to M60 comfortably.
The two founding directors, with more than 50 years experience in fastener manufacturing, are passionate about QUALITY and SERVICE.
That passion flows throughout the company with continual improvements, progressive attitude and continuous investment in staff, machinery, and technology to delivery first class quality and service working in partnership with our clients.
The unique skill set and technical capabilities within the company enable us to offer these precision made, critical parts, managed from enquiry to invoice, while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to the ever changing and ever challenging needs of our clients.
Starting with materials, we manage the entire supply chain including all manufacturing processes, finishes and technologies.
This enables us to produce end to end precision-engineered products, readily available for assembly across an array of industries.
Over decades, our commercial reach and specialist knowledge has grown to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers. It is this quality that has kept Performance Fasteners unique and at the leading edge of precision-engineered critical supply componentry.
Frequently asked questions

Do you offer full certification for manufactured parts?
Yes of course. We offer 3.1 material certification to BS EN 10204 and Laboratory Inspection on finished parts to various specifications, including the more common ISO 898-1 and 2 and ISO 3506-1 and 2. Inspection Certificate can also be supplied in the form of AS9102 FAIR Reports or ISIR documentation on request.
What inspection procedures do you operate?
Inspection for us is the key to success. Nobody wants parts rejected and that is core to our business.
Inspection starts internally with our accredited ISO 9001:2015 procedures which would include Contract Review to make sure quotations meet that offered to the order. Materials are inspected on receipt and certification from the Mill is checked before manufacturing to ensure correct material is used. PMI Certification is provided upon request at time of quotation. All items are segregated and labelled during manufacture.
First off inspection, in process inspections and final inspections are carried out before releasing for packing. Upon request, we can the test on-site for a hardness reading if required or send to the laboratory for Mechanical / Chemical clarification to raw material on finished goods. Our on-site inspection also uses the latest technology by means of a state of the art optical Keyence Measuring Machine.
On despatch, all parts are labelled with a unique batch trace reference, linking the parts to the material certification and customers order.
Can you part mark the manufactured items?
Yes, part marking is also done in-house by means of an automated Pryor Vibro Etching Machine. We would ask you to clarify what needs etching and make sure the part itself is big enough to etch in the first instance.
If no etching is requested, it is normal for us to etch our company name (PFL), and the grade of material on parts with a larger diameter than M4. unless otherwise requested.
